I know a lot of you out there in flist land are a bit...ahem...young to remember the 80s very well, but I have to pass this along.

It's an 80s FicPic-alooza.!

It is open to all fandoms that were around or originated from 1980-1989. It also could have originated in the 70s, but if it was around during the 80s, it’s fair game.

'80s Bands' is also included, if you'd like to swing in that direction.

It is largely geared toward kink; the subtitle, The Golden Age of Kink, kind of gives that away, but not all entries have to be kinky. Gen is fine too.

This is hosted on InsaneJournal, not LiveJournal. I know there is a way to post to IJ using and LJ account, but I haven't quite got that figured out yet. ;) Even if you don't have an InsaneJournal, you can still pop in and check out the submissions. I'm sure the comm members won't mind.

Fanvids and icons are accepted as submissions. Yay! So even if you not inspired to write a fic, you can icon your old favorite shows. (That's assuming you have those old favs. God, I feel old now. Lol!

And yes, I'm totally doing some of this. Hah!

So, I started working on a fic. (see KK? proof positive that I won't diss fic writing for the rp. hee! ;)

At any rate, as I was writing, I went back and re-watched part of ‘Sam’ just to remind myself of certain happenings in the show. (because I like to check things when referencing canon events) Specifically, I was looking at Bridge and Syd in part one, and Sky in part two. Gauging their various reactions. And while yes, we can see a bit of reaction in both Syd and Bridge at Sky’s ‘freak’ comment, what was more interesting was his reaction when Cruger tells them about their parents and the accident. Everyone one of them has various looks of shock and surprise, but Sky looks truly crushed. Like something seriously broke for him.

Also interesting is when they move around the command console to stand in front of Cruger as he retells the story of the accident. Everyone else simply goes without much thought. Sky however, hangs back and takes his time getting there. Shuffling, if you well, almost as if he’s forcefully dragging himself. He doesn’t even bother to look at Cruger any more. He simply stands off to the side, leaning against the console, arms crossed as he stares at the floor. The reason for this reaction could be caused by any number of things.

Obviously, he knew his father worked at SPD. But he probably never thought of him working in any capacity other than Red Ranger. Like on the technology. Or perhaps it was his mother - the show never specifically tells us which parents were present at the time. And during the flashback scene, there are clearly less than twelve people in the lab, thus implying that not both parents of each Ranger were there. (And I say twelve because of Sam.)

Perhaps he’s crushed by the knowledge that SPD kept this information hidden from them. Or that his parents never told him. Cruger does say ‘we kept this knowledge secret’ without elaborating as to whom ‘we’ includes. One could assume that their parents would’ve known. Seriously, how likely would it be for a parent not to notice their kid walking through a wall? Or throwing out force fields?

Maybe the fact that his powers were the result of an accident makes him feel even more of a freak? Or does he start to think that perhaps Bridge and Z’s earlier theories imply something more? It’s fairly obvious at this point, that they were all brought together for a reason. And knowing that now, but not being told about it, perhaps he felt as if he’d been used? Or betrayed? SPD means something very different to Sky than to the others; if we use his dedication and sense of duty as an example. That SPD would willingly withhold such information for so long has got to impact that firm idealistic view he holds.

At any rate, no matter how you look at it, or what you read into it, one thing is clear. Sky was not happy by any stretch of the imagination at this news. Interesting indeed.

Okay, fine. I cave.

IE: "If 3 and 4 were trapped in a cave together with only a blanket and a toothpick, what would they do?"

My list won't go up til sometime Saturday. Because tommorow I'll be slammed at work. LIKE ALL DAY. What is it with these people and making us work like dogs the day before a weekend? Not going to do an actual poll, because I know I could not list every single eye-sporking possiblity. Instead I'll give a short list of few plot devices that make me *headdesk* frequently.

- long-lost, twin sibling
(this could be a possible, viable concept in the hands of a capable writer - but unfortunately, that happens few and far between)
- long-lost, twin sibling that is ALSO a Mary Sue
someone, shoot me now! better yet, shoot the writer
- the secret that so-and-so's parents are really *insert former Ranger(S) of choice*
- one Ranger discovers that a fellow teammate is actually his/her sibling
and the ensuing !ick! reaction from all those times they were making out before "they knew"
- mass-production of more babies than you can shake a stick at
good grief, is Kimberly/Madison/Syd really that much of a baby factory? or is it that Tommy/Nick/Sky are that prolific? if the latter, I think I'd be gunning those suckers to get a vascetomy!

and last but not least:
- more Rangers squashed into a single story than is humanly possible
yes, boys and girls, there is such a thing as limits on cameo appearences

So what's your peeves? Inquiring minds (aka, mostly mine) want to know.

hey shuri, I seem to recall you mentioning something about hoping you had enough postage by sticking 2 or 3 stamps on it. postage to Canada is 69cents per the post office lady, so even if you only stuck on two stamps, you're safe! ;)

Hey y'all! I'm part of a little project called fandom_bound, where various artists and writers are getting together and adding things to a journal.

It's not an online journal either, its an actual bound paper journal.

darklock came up with the idea of having traveling journals related to fandom based on the idea of '1000 journals'

The basic concept is that folks would add to the journals and pass them on.

I've got the het journal right now. It's patiently (or impatiently waiting ;) to go to someone else. Anyone out there in flist land want to go for it? You know you want to...*gets out the prodding stick* Don't make me send the deranged killer plot bunnies out after you. *g*

How many of you caught the glitch in 'Once a Ranger'? Did you notice the part where Bridge had no gloves on? And no, it's not where he was scanning the warehouse.

I saw it the first time I watched the ep and thought I was seeing things. After multiple rewinds and pauses, I knew there was a glove missing. And the more I stared at it, the more it looked like both were gone!

Finally I couldn't take it anymore. I dropped the file into Windows Movie Maker where I can go through a clip frame by frame (WMM is a handy tool for getting screen caps to icony, btw ;) And! .... Lo and behold, both gloves are missing!

I'll bet money that it was a screw-up, one of those bloopers where maybe they paused for shooting, Matt took them off and then if they were pressed for time, they finished the scene and no one noticed that they were missing.

At any rate, if you want to hunt it down, go to where the vet team enters the pool room. At the end, when the alarm goes off, pay close attention to Bridge as he's standing behind Adam. You'll see a spot as they turn around where you can see his hands.

And with the handy-dandy WMM, I noticed something else. Not only do you see both ungloved hands, but a wedding ring! Yes, yes, its because Matt's married, but hey...it also opens up avenues for ficcing! Like who exactly does Bridge get married to in the future?
